About Us

Fish Food PantryThe FISH of Roseburg is a non-profit organization that provides emergency basic needs to our friends and neighbors during their difficult times. The FISH Food Pantry was founded in 1971 by local churches in response to the need to provide emergency food to low-income families.

Our mission is to assist in reducing hunger within the community, and responding with compassion to the needs of families and persons in crisis. The FISH seeks to show concern for our neighbors by assisting as a safety net for unmet needs of food, shelter, transportation, and children’s medicine.

The FISH Food Pantry is the largest of Douglas County's 15 emergency food pantries and currently serves an average of 1,050 Douglas County households per month, including over 4,200 people. Almost one-third of those served are children.

The FISH is not part of the UCAN organization, but is a partner in service with UCAN. A portion of the food that the FISH Food Pantry distributes to low-income families comes from UCAN. The UCAN warehouse provides distribution of bulk food from the Oregon Food Bank, Federal emergency food programs and other sources to all 15 food pantries in Douglas County. It does not operate a pantry for direct services to those in need. The FISH Food Pantry is a direct provider of food for the low-income families in Douglas County who need assistance.

The FISH of Roseburg is very proud to be a volunteer-run organization with a low overhead and only a single part-time paid staff person. Over 85 cents of every dollar that is donated goes back out in direct client services. This would not be possible without the help of over 70 enthusiastic volunteers.

The FISH is an equal opportunity provider.
